Summer Leadership Series: Rachael Brantley

We recently asked our 2017 Day Camp Leadership Team members a few questions to help you and campers get to know them a bit better in preparation for this coming summer!

Meet Rachael Brantley!

Rachael BrantleyQ: How many summers have you worked for the Day Camp?

A: "This will be my sixth summer at Tate's."

Q: What is your official job title?

A: "This summer I will be the Discovery Program Director."

Q: Can you explain your role this coming summer?

A: "This summer, I will be selecting and training staff in order to make Tate’s Day Camp the most exciting summer camp. I will be working with the leadership team to create fun and secretly educational activities for campers in order to help them grow and experience new challenges. I will be communicating with parents and staff in order to ensure that each and every camper is having the best possible camp experience."

Q: What do you enjoy most about Tate's Day Camp?

A: "I am excited to be able to spend another summer at Tate’s Day Camp. I absolutely love watching each and every individual child continue to tackle new challenges and find new things they love. The greatest part of Tate’s Day camp is the magic that happens at camp. Campers are eager to try new experiences and embrace fears they might have. These memories stay with them forever and help them both in school and in life.  Staff form lifelong friendships built around the core values of Tate’s. I met some of my best friends at Tate’s. We are a family. We live, play, and sweat for each other every single day. Tate’s creates bonds between people and encourages everyone to step outside of their comfort zone to experience new things."

Q: Are you in school? If so, what are you studying and why?

A: "I recently graduated with my Masters in Elementary Education to be a certified teacher! I am currently an interim teacher at Sequoyah Elementary while the previous kindergarten teacher is on maternity leave. I am exciting to begin my teaching career in the fall!"

Q: What are you excited most about for this coming summer?

A: "I am excited to create new experiences for campers who will be coming back for another summer. I am currently planning and researching new ideas that can be implemented at Tate’s Day Camp to provide campers with an exciting, fun, and secretly educational experience. I  am excited to see familiar faces as well as fresh ones. I am also excited to see the campers this summer! I am eager to meet and get to know all the different personalities of each camper!"
