Q: How many summers have you worked for the Day Camp?
A: "2017 will mark my 14th summer."
Q. What is your official job title?
A: "I am the Explorer Program Director."
Q: Can you explain your role this coming summer?
A: "I get to work primarily with ages 7 and up and will be in charge of programming activities and events for those ages. I also am involved in some specialty training for our challenge course staff, and get to interview and hire many of the great folks who’ll be on our team this summer."
Q: What do you enjoy most about Tate's Day Camp?
A: "I appreciate the chance to do good work that really makes a difference in the lives of our campers and our staff, and that has the opportunity to impact other lives in a positive way. I love getting to hire and work with great folks; to teach them, learn from them, and work together to provide a great experience for our camp families. I enjoy being able to provide opportunities for kids, and staff members, to learn life skills and practical lessons that school often doesn’t provide."
Q: Are you in school? If so, what are you studying and why?
A: "I’m not currently in school. I have a Master’s Degree in Counseling and Behavioral Health and I’m a Licensed Marital and Family Therapist…but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t relish the opportunity to earn a Ph.D one day – especially through a distance or onsite intensive program where I could continue to do the work I currently do and love so much."
Q: What are you excited most about for this coming summer?
A: "What am I not excited about?! This summer will bring so many great opportunities for our campers to learn incredible new skills. Our staff members will learn and grow too, and continue to refine who they want to be in their professional lives. I’m just thankful to be able to be at Tate’s doing the work I’m doing."
