We recently asked a few of our staff members some questions so that you could get to know them better as camp nears. Meet Abby Asbury!
Q. How many summer’s have you worked at Tate’s Day Camp?
A. This will be my third summer working at Tate’s Day Camp.
Q. What is your job title?
A. This summer I will be the Aquatics Director. (AKA. Head Mermaid)
Q. What does your job entail?
A. As the Aquatics Director, I will oversee the swim staff, 3 saltwater pools, and the pond area. In addition, I will plan and teach swim lessons, provide guidance and support to our swim staff, lifeguard during free swim times, and be responsible for the maintenance of the swimming pools.
Q. What is your favorite part about camp?
A. I absolutely love watching the campers grow over the summer; not only in their aquatic abilities, but also as people. Camp is confidence building.
Q. Are you currently in school? If so, what are you studying?
A. I attend school at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and I am majoring in Kinesiology. With this degree, I plan on attending PA school after I graduate and hopefully get a job working in a doctor’s office.
Q. What are you most looking forward to this summer?
A. The thing I am looking forward to the most about this summer is being able to work alongside an awesome group of mermaids and merman while watching the campers grow in their swimming abilities at the pool.
