We recently asked our 2017 Day Camp Leadership Team members a few questions to help you and campers get to know them a bit better in preparation for this coming summer!
Meet Abby Mason!
Q: How many summers have you worked for the Day Camp?
A: “This will be my sixth summer at Tate’s Day Camp.”
Q: What is your official job title?
A: “I am the Assistant Discovery Program Director.”
Q: Can you explain your role for this coming summer?
A: “I will be in charge of supporting and equipping Discovery Counselors to be excellent Fun Professionals. I will serve as support to the Discovery Program Director in daily activities and programming. I will correspond with parents and staff members in regards to the needs of campers.”
Q: What do you enjoy most about Tate’s Day Camp?
A: “I love that it is a home away from home. I know it like the back of my hand and it is a place where I feel comfortable and valuable. I also love that it is always a little different and developing new ideas.”
Q: Are you in school? If so, what are you studying and why?
A: “I am going to be a senior at Berry College in Georgia. I am an Early Childhood Education major, with minors in Teaching English as a Foreign Language, and French. I want to love and nurture children in a way that will impact them forever. I am excited to get to show children how to love learning, especially reading, in order to help improve the quality of their lives.”
Q: What are you excited most about for this coming summer?
A: “I am excited to be able to work with counselors in making their lives easier by encouraging and supporting them as much as possible. I have been in their shoes for many years and can relate to the awesome and hard parts of their roles in caring for their campers.”
